Just Walk It!
The job is not the place you desire! You are single and have yet to find that girl or guy! You have yet to make it to a place in life that’s, in your eyes and mind, desirable.
Let me drop something on your heart and mind that will be sure to help you…”Walk In Your Now!”
God dropped this into my heart and mind as I was just reading 1 Corinthians 7:17, which reads “But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk. And so I ordain in all the churches.”
The apostle Paul was speaking to the church in Corinth regarding singleness versus marriage. In this text, he is simply telling us that we have our place, single or married, jew or gentile, one or ther other, and that we are to lead a life that points to God and Christ regardless of our status.
You may be called to the job you don’t like to help someone else! You may be called to be in a specific relationship for a season or till death do you part for a greater purpose than you can imagine.
I’ll be honest, it can be challenging living the life of a single man. Its NOT easy! Let me say that again…it is NOT easy! But…its a part of life that God has me called too as He calls me for greater work. If He decides to change the scenario, He’ll put me in that place. For now, I’ll use the status I have to serve Him, not complain to Him about my status!
Also, start doing something about your place of walk…walking involves traveling and traveling often involves new encounters and experiences! What kind of experience do you want…one that involves new boooks, new hobbies, new ministries, new career goals, new school, new friends…or walking in place like on a treadmill.
What are you walking in!? If its a struggle to walk through it, may I suggest you pray and seek God and His Word to do so!
Cartoon Daily News Celebrates 100th Blog Post!!!
Wow…100 posts..I first want to Thank God!!! It is with and through Him I’m even able to do anything and everything He has called and appointed me to do!!! I will continue to acknowledge You God as You Direct My Path!! I thank Jesus Christ, who bought me AND brought me!!! Without Christ, I am not functional and without purpose!!!
At the time I started this blog, I’ll be honest, I had NO idea what I was going to do with it. My Mom said I should start blogging again. I listened because I didn’t have any other options. I knew I had to do something different! I prayed and asked God to show me what I needed to be doing and with what! Thank You God and Thank You Mom for listening to God and in turn passing the ideas and inspiration down to me.
Thank You to ALL of the readers, viewers and bloggers whom have helped me, supported me and continue to check out what’s being shared on Cartoon Daily News!
Let me share something with all of you…a while back I was doing an independent study at my college, Oklahoma Christian University. The independent study allowed me to create a curriculum, or a book project, called “Animated Ministry.” I never published it and only referenced it a couple of times after the study. My God-given talent and gift is to be able to see certain things in our culture, particularly that’s media or cartoon related and help reach out to people with the Gospel with those observations. It is a gift I take very seriously and I pray that each and every readers get’s something from the site that draws them closer to God and Christ, inspires them, encourages them and helps them!
Happy 100th Post!!!! My hope and prayer is to bless with you more to come!
He Determines Your Steps!
16 years old…like Brendon Small of the cartoon “Home Movies” we both had something in common. We were kids who were passionate about doing what we loved. We were young and we had a dream. We were young and desired the challenge of planning our course, our future and our goals.
Just like I turned my Mom and Dad’s home office into a homemade weather center, Brendon Small turned his parent’s basement into a homemade movie studio, “Small Studios!”
But, if you were to tell me at age 16 that by the time I was 27 I would be in preaching and teaching the Gospel while writing and drawing cartoons I would’ve said “seriously, no way!? Not because its a bad thing…it really is awesome to be doing it…but, I was always proclaiming that when I was older and done with school “I would be a Meteorologist.”
It was my thought…my idea…until God took my very notions and ideas and made it something very different but exciting!
In fact, I almost got kicked out of Oklahoma Christian University after my freshman year because I couldn’t afford the school at the time. At the same time, I was seriously considering going to the University of Oklahoma to finally pursue Meteorology, but, my math was weak and it would’ve cost more to go to OU! My dream to study Meteorology was dimming.
I sat in my dorm room, praying, asking God what exactly I should do next. Stay at Oklahoma Christian and continue to pursue the Bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism or run the risk at the University of Oklahoma!?
God hit me with this:
Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV)….A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Man account for, consider, devise and think through many scenarios and possibilities. However, we could do it several ways but at the end of the day the Lord determines, aims, firms out and appoints our place. Not only does the Lord determine our stepping place but also our stepping pace. He sets the pace and speed as to how quickly we get to a specific place in life.
I would address patience here, but, we could talk all day about that!
The next day I went to Chapel, our Dean of Students got up to speak and he quoted the very same text I read the night before…Proverbs 16:9.
One day when I was teaching our youth, I drew a chart that separated “My Plans” and “God’s Plans.” It hit me like a ton of bricks as I started writing into the chart what I thought I would do and what God was planning with me. It was so cool to see how God used and is still using my background in broadcasting with ministry, my passion for cartoons to share Christ and ability to speak to talk to others and share the Word. In fact, the chart that showed God’s plan made more sense then my side of the chart.
I can NOT take credit for the way things worked out in my life. The plans that God had and has are so much better than what I would’ve ever thought.
Staying Behind The Scenes
May 25th marked 7 years of preaching the Gospel. So many were there to support me when I preached my first sermon, “Christian Growth.”
I’m so fortunate and so blessed to be strategically placed around ministers, teachers and wise Bible-based brothers and sisters who are strong in their relationship with God and Christ! I’m so fortunate to be around people on my job, at church and around friends who help me to maintain checks and balances in my relationship with God as well as my mindset and attitude.
I’ve learned more and more…its not about me!
It never was about me to begin with!
So much has happened in my life from my childhood up to my current days. I’ve been through a lot, been to a lot of places, experienced a lot of things and met a lot of people. I credit God and Christ Jesus. Let me say that again…”I” credit and give Thanks to God and Christ Jesus!
Before the weekend started, I admitted to a co-worker that the same junk I used to listen too and watch when I was younger and even while in ministry, I just don’t have the same taste for anymore. I told him that I felt the urgency to do more studying of the scriptures and really prepare for genuine ministry to others. My friend visited the website and he read one of my bios.
Then…reality set in! I was not placing my Faith in front like I should.
Luke 9:23-26 really hit me:
“23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? 26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels (New International Version).”
I spent a good amount of my time searching and searching for what my purpose was supposed to be. I was blessed to be able to find that blogging and writing fits hugely into a even greater plan that God has for me. Unfortunately, certain things were not being done to place Christ in the forefront of the operation. When my friend pointed this out to me…I wasn’t angry…I was embarrassed. Because of this, I chose to make some decisions that will change “Cartoon Daily News” for the better and at the same time improve the other platforms that God placed on my heart as well, like “Purpose Move” and “Eccentric Nation.”
With that, here’s what I learned from this text and from my time spent with God on this matter of blogging, cartoons, writing and more:
1. Seek God’s Will!
2. Avoid seeking numbers and stats!
3. Daily Deny Myself!!!
4. Deal with my “Cross” issues (in other words, embrace my times of suffering knowing Jesus did that for me and ALL of us plus more).
