If you want to accomplish something, if you want something bad enough, you will make sacrifices!
Unfortunately, we make excuse after excuse!
I would go back to school, but I’m so busy!
I would exercise, but, I think I’ll watch a few hours of television first!
I would, but I can’t!
What’s really going on in the heart of many is this: I would, I probably should, and I maybe even could, BUT, I would rather do the thing that’s most important to me.
Sacrifice is not easy! Sacrifice doesn’t make sense! Sacrifice requires obedience!
I was reading Genesis 22 and read about God asking Abraham to take his son Isaac and sacrifice him on Mount Moriah.
I don’t have children of my own, but I know I have things I could sacrifice on a daily basis:
- Time
- Television
- Internet Surfing
- Fast Food
- Smart Phone Games (and yes, even the regular video games)
The list can go on!
What are you having a hard time sacrificing!? Could it be that what you are not sacrificing, especially that thing you really seem to love is holding you back from a real and genuine relationship and opportunity!?
In order for my relationship with God to grow I had to drop some things off of my imaginary list of “things-to-do.” I had to cut off TV for a few hours and really sit and have quiet time. I had to turn off my cell phone and just get away from the calls and texts. I had to move my comics over to the other side of my desk and sign off of Facebook!
What are you going to sacrifice!?

This is very good! Sacrifice is something we as a people don’t generally like to do. We’ve become so self driven that sacrificing for the greater good Is far fetched!
Philip:
You are so right and you know, sacrifice definitely is not easy! I suppose it’s not supposed to be. It’s never really any fun or pleasure in letting go of something your so used too or close too, that is, until you realize there is something much better and bigger than ones self!
I need to stop procrastinating finally get my driver’s license… but I’m having trouble giving up my precious free time after work… But if I invest my time in getting myself more mobile, I could do SO much more. I could go to school, get a better job… I can’t even think of all that I could do, and maybe that’s what’s truly holding me/us back, is the fear of the unknown.
Brother Kaz:
I used to be in the same boat in so many ways! The key is to trust God.
Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Seek in prayer and know His Word as well! Start installing “purpose” and “production” into your life and you’ll yield that same stuff into your personal and public goals!
Fear is not of God. The enemy wants to place that idea of failure and inconsistency into your head and heart! Be prayerful, start saying no to time wasters and dream stealers and be honest with yourself, even about the stuff you like.
A wise writer I like once said that you stand to loose more when you take the chance of doing nothing!
For example, I had the money to go to the anime convention, but didn’t because my homework and other obligations were larger on the list.
Its a daily process to drop different things off the “not matching the plan” list.
That’s Awesome and so true to life. God sacrificed His Only Begotten Son fo all of us so surely we should be able to make sacrifices for Him.
Glad to be one of many visitants on this amazing site
