Miles Cooper pondering maturity
Thanksgiving is coming up and lately I have been considering the fact that I will have to answer a ton of questions about some things in my life.
You know, those questions that family members ask you so they can start a good conversation, but, unfortunately they are never the kind of questions you want asked in a public family meal setting.
I have a pretty good idea what the first few questions will be and because of this I have been rehearsing two potential answers: “It didn’t work out” or “I have a lot of growing up to do!”
The first answer is sort of an easy escape answer but the second answer might be the most “mature” answer! It would be the answer that shows that I own up to my issues, my struggles and my junk. It is the answer that seems the most accurate and the most truthful but not nearly as convenient as the first answer.
But…it is true. I mean, don’t we all have “growing up” to do. If we are all really honest with ourselves, we will find that we are still childish in some ways. We will find that deep down in some part of us is a very underdeveloped part of us that HAS to grow up.
Perhaps we don’t want to deal with it because we are SO afraid of what might happen. Perhaps we are afraid of dealing with the responsibility because then it would mean we would have to own it and see it all through!
Two things I would recommend:
1. Answer with Maturity!
2. Answer with a Mature Answer!
