Regular Friendship

While Mordecai and Rigby are not the best in moral character and quality life values, they both have something that most people do not have, a genuine friendship!

“The Regular Show’s” Mordecai and Rigby, the cool headed blue jay-bird and the lazy but funny and cool when he wants to be Rigby, are the best of friends I have ever seen in cartoons, and I’ve watched a ton!

All too often we look at cartoons for its entertainment factor, but, if you think about it there are some mini-truths that are mixed within shows like “Regular Show.”

We learn from Mordecai and Rigby’s friendship that no one, and I mean, NO ONE, is perfect in a relationship. But we also learn that their friendship is a key dynamic!

Often we have seen these two get personal with each other, but always have each other’s back.

Often we have seen these two get in tons of trouble, but when push comes to shove, Mordecai always has Rigby’s back and Rigby always has Mordecai’s back!

Both of these characters are always “ranking” on each other, but hey, isn’t that what friends do!? Both can playfully egg on each other without the other being offended.

They know each other like a book!

I have at least a few friends I can count up that are the same way with me!

They tell me when I’m right and tell me when I’m wrong (which isn’t a problem because I’m always right……….just kidding).

They kick me in the butt when I start feeling sorry for myself!

They even pick on me for the most ridiculous things I do (and for what it’s worth, I would pick on me too)!

They know me enough to know what I want to hear but tell me what I NEED to hear!

Our friendship is so deep, it’s like Mordecai said in one episode, “you’re like my brother!”

Proverbs 18:24 says “a man that has friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.”

I actually made a call to a friend a while back and said “Pokemon was going to be on Cartoon Network in no time,” and weeks later, boom, it happened.

Just to give my luck a chance…again…hopefully…I figure I would give you my predictions for Cartoon Network 2013 and what I honestly want to see the network do, especially as far as Toonami is concerned!

Prediction 1:  Funimation’sSoul Eater” is a long-time coming! I honestly think sometime between 2013 and the early part of 2014 we will see Cartoon Network place this show on the late Saturday night block, “Toonami.” It will be edited to a point I’m sure, but don’t be surprised if you see it on. It has a certain kind of quality and flare that would make viewers of “Toonami” drool a little.

Prediction 2:  ”Outlaw Star” is a series that really gave “Toonami” a boost, especially when you saw it run back to back with “Dragonball Z” during the infamous “Midnight Run.” I have a feeling that THIS show is coming back to the line up. If they can get “Tenchi” and if they can get “Inuyasha,” then surely they can let Tom the host share airspace with Gene Starwind and the crew of the “Outlaw Star.”

Prediction 3:  ”Sonic X.” Yes, I think Cartoon Network needs to acquire Sonic the Hedgehog. IF NOT “Sonic X,” at least “Sonic SatAM.” You remember “Sonic SatAM” right!? Now, would Sonic be on the “Toonami” line-up…not necessarily! I’m thinking, Saturday and or Sunday mornings perhaps!? Either way, I got a feeling that our favorite hedgehog will likely be on Cartoon Network…even if it ends up on Boomerang.

Prediction 4:  Prime Time line-ups are going to be tough for Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. They keep running new episodes during the beginning of the week and never on Friday’s. I honestly want to see some good ole fashioned risky competition. I would like to know if “Regular Show” or “Adventure Time” would naturally beat Disney Channel’s “Gravity Falls” or “Phineas and Ferb,” or vice versa. I’ll let all of you readers debate that!

And yet, I think its pretty smart for Cartoon Network to run their new hits at the beginning of the week because it gives viewers something to look forward to on a Monday or during the week. But hey, much like those Saturday morning ratings wars of the past, I would love to see another good rating’s fight.
